Fabulous line-up of bright marionettes!
March 5th, 2010 at 1:50 pmI always marveled at the coroner’s bureau sign. What’s the history?

March 5th, 2010 at 10:22 pmIt’s the number one Coroner’s Bureau in the land, at least according to Google.
March 6th, 2010 at 5:25 amAnd maybe the only one, if you don’t count the blog that borrowed its name (and neon)…
No surprise that it’s number one on Google—the dead bodies do tend to pile up around here.
March 6th, 2010 at 10:39 amThe more I look at it that Coroner’s Bureau would be a great sign for a bar of the same name.It reminds me a bit of the sign for the old North Star a dingy dive if there ever was one that sat beneath the old Boston Garden area.It was a hangout for workers and Bruins hockey players a lot of them no longer in playing shape so to say.
March 13th, 2010 at 10:41 pmI had the same thought—that it would make a good sign for a bar of that name. Someday when Alameda County is broke, maybe they’ll sell off the sign (or the whole building) for that purpose. I don’t know the North Star, but wasn’t there another famous old bar on Causeway St by the garden? I can’t remember the name of the one I’m thinking of, and all the places I find on Google seem to be cheesy new sports bars or brewpubs…
March 13th, 2010 at 11:37 pmI know what place you are talking about and the name escapes me but I can’t find the North Star either searching online. Most links for the North Star show a place in Philly.
